NEPA
In Nigeria the power supply is called NEPA, an acronym for National Electric Power Authority. But also jokingly known throughout the country as Never Expect Power Always. Because in the powerhouse of Afrika power is often missing. Those who live in Nigeria never know when the power will be on. How can this be?
This is the premise of the podcast NEPA by Dutch journalists Maite Vermeulen and Jacco Prantl. I created a trailer and visuals setting the tone for the podcast, recreating the moments of discomfort when power is lost.

Early sketches
The general colour palette was set from the beginning to be inspired by Nigeria’s national flag, adding orange to give some contrast and energy.
Sketch to final frame
With each step in the process I refined all the shots to a stage in the end where they were all ready to be animated.
